What can be better for kids in the summer than the outside activities with great counselors, who can teach not only to hike and make fire, but also to show children God’s love and reveal a personality in every child? That is why church “Philadelphia” arranged a trip for ten children to a summer camp near Bukovel in the Carpathians.

All things are packed, and with sadness (but with a lot of great memories) ten children, together with their counselor Christina Saikova, are waiting for their train back home to Kiev. Ten days at the summer camp in the Carpathian Mountains passed by way too quickly. Every day was filled with fun, adventures, new experiences and meetings.

Every day in the camp started with a morning exercise and a tasty breakfast and finished with an interesting bedtime story from one of the camp counselors. Our team, which symbolically named itself “Optimist”, spent every day in the fresh air with other teams. And although it was raining basically every day, the team was always in a great mood – after all, they are optimists!

What do kids love the most? Games, of course. They played lots of different games: “Bifer”, “Fruit garden”, “Church”, “Winnie the Pooh”, etc. Games were supposed to not only entertain the kids but also to bring them closer to each other, teach them to be team players, root for and support each other.

One of the most exсiting events at the camp was the Talent show. Our team performed a sketch called “Ripka” – a well-known fairy tale in a modern adaptation. A Hawaiian party was also a lot of fun, where children could learn customs and traditions of Hawaii. Children also had Bible study lessons and English lessons from the native speakers.

Among other memories that kids will bring back to Kiev are songs, picnics, camp fires and climbing on top of the mountain Homjak – which is quite an achievement.

We are very grateful to the international charity organization “Serve Now” for such a great opportunity for our children to spend time in this wonderful camp. Looking forward to having a great time next year!
